New Christian songs, Christian songs. THE KIND OF JESUS. Christian music from Heading Home Ministries.

“Call yourself a Christian”! “Well if that’s what it means to be like Jesus forget it”!
Sometimes those of us who profess to be Christians are not the best adverts for our faith. Oh we say the right things with our lips but this is not always reflected in our actions. We talk about loving our neighbours but very often it’s on our terms and only if we think they are lovely enough to be loved. Yes it’s easy to love the lovely, the ones we go to church with, the ones we know wont demand anything from us, the ones who won’t take up too much of our time and definitely the ones who don’t challenge us to step out of our comfort zone.
But what about the unlovely? What about the bad? The ones who challenge us to truly put love into action. The ones we’d rather not be seen with, the ones who will take and not give anything in return, the ones who will abuse our love time and again and the ones who will betray our trust in a heartbeat and still sleep soundly at night. What about them?
In the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10 Jesus was showing us what it means to love your neighbor. The priest and the Levite who passed by on the other side are symbolic of religion which professes the love but doesn’t possess the love. To their shame Jesus makes the point of how a Samaritan, who is outside of the faith and despised by the ‘church’, showed real love for the beaten victim. The religious priest and Levite didn’t think the victim was deserving of their attention, of their time and certainly not of their love. He wasn’t lovely enough. The Samaritan on the other hand didn’t care how bad a state the man was in, he just saw the need and had compassion and went out of his way to take care of him in love.
Jesus asked the question “So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” The answer is clear in the reply “He who showed mercy on him.” And Jesus’s instruction to all who claim to follow Him is clear and unmistakable when He tells us to “Go and do likewise.”
So the question remains: What kind of Jesus are you?
The Kind Of Jesus

You wear the cross of Jesus
Hanging from your neck
When it comes to love your neighbor
Your witness is a wreck

You love to love the lovely
But you won’t love the bad
And that’s the kind of Jesus
That makes me sad

You tell me that you’re humble
Through the smokescreen of your pride
When you see your brother stumble
You walk on the other side

You love to love the lovely
But you won’t love the bad
And that’s the kind of Jesus
That makes me sad

I turned from my reflection
In the mirror and I cried
The life I talk but do not walk
Is not like His who died

I go to church on Sunday
With Jesus in my heart
When I leave for work on Monday
Me and Jesus seem to part

I love to love the lovely
But I won’t love the bad
And that’s the kind of Jesus
That makes you sad

The weight of my conviction
Well it drove me to my knees
Break my heart for what breaks yours
I cried Lord help me please

Make me the kind of Jesus
That gives instead of takes
Taking light into the darkness
Of every heart that breaks

I love to love the lovely
Show me how to love the bad
Make me the kind of Jesus
That makes your glad
