From the Saint Benedict the Moor Church Gospel Choir Memorial Concert 2 October 2010, under the direction of Lynette Spurlock Hardnett. St. Benedict the Moor was a 16th century Sicilian friar who was born to African slaves and eventually became the patron saint of African-Americans. St. Benedict the Moor Church is located at 2423 Grant Street, North Omaha, Nebraska, U.S.A. At the time of the recording, Reverend Father Kenneth Vavrina was pastor in residence. The current pastor is Reverend Father Vitalis Anyanike.

This song was composed by Reverend Clay Evans and recorded by him in 1995. There is room for improvisation within the song. The lyrics as sung at this concert are as follows:

Saint Benoît le Maure était un frère sicilien du XVIe siècle, né d'esclaves africains et est finalement devenu le saint patron des Afro-Américains. L'église Saint-Benoît le Maure est située au 2423 Grant Street, North Omaha, Nebraska, États-Unis.Au moment de l'enregistrement, le révérend père Kenneth Vavrina était pasteur en résidence. Le pasteur actuel est le révérend père Vitalis Anyanike.
