Lesson 44 introduces drags; where you play a quick double-stroke just preceding a note. The grace notes of the drag should be play softly, and the main note following the graces notes should be played with a noticeably higher volume (effectively it's an accent). The second half of the lesson shows applications for drags in drum fills and grooves.
