This original piano composition “Prologue II” is from my latest release “Transformations II”, of post modern classical piano solo music.

Post modern, experimental piano music, post modern classical, and even experimental jazz can be used to describe these pieces. In the style of experimental piano improvisation, these pieces are in a genre that modern classical music composers can use to forge new paths.

Classical piano music in modern style can have much dissonance and atonality, yet when it blends with tonality at certain moments, it can create a form of emotional experimental piano, where the sudden appearance of emotion can feel quite profound or at least a relief. Use of rhythm can also create a subtly playful feel to balance the often stark feel of a modern piece. This piece "Prologue II" is a minimalist modern piece that uses often scarce notes to create a certain sound world, and emotional effect, and this piece indeed sets the scene for the rest of the pieces in this piano solo album. The chords which lack resolution often poses a question or idea hanging in the air for us to contemplate for a moment, in anticipation for what is next to come. Enjoy!
