For me growing up, I was in church periodically and one thing I noticed is I never connected with the kind of worship music I heard. It wasn't bad, it just didn't represent me or my generation. When we started Worth Dying For, we wanted to write songs that connected those who were far from God to His heart. We began as the worship band for our youth group, bringing more "heavy" sounds and pushing the boundaries of what had been done with worship music. One thing I specifically wanted to add to the mix was screaming. While it went over well with our youth kids and most audiences, the label thought it was a bit much so if you listen to our first album (Worth Dying For 2008) you can hear the screaming, its just kinda buried in the mix.
Finally, on our second album Love Riot (2011), screaming vocals were featured more prominently. One of the tracks on the album where the screaming is in the forefront is a song called "Savior", funny thing is, I originally wrote it in 2005 but I guess we weren't ready for that yet ????
I guess the takeaway here is that God's timing is perfect, not convenient or preferred at times, but perfect. I'm still learning that lesson today, and I assume I will continue to learn that lesson for life.
