Hey music lovers,
First of all, thanks for your support and patience: you guys have messaged me about the incoming "El Cid" prog rock album. As I have posted on the community board a few days ago, I have lost my old laptop and its entire content nearly a week ago. The infamous "No booting device found" message appeared out of nowhere on last Tuesday and it seems like the SSD hard drive was somehow corrupted. To make a long story short, I have bought a new laptop, I have lost YEARS of work, including lyrics and all of the WAV files for the ongoing project. It is all back to step one... That was a huge blow!
Since I had to feed the channel, I wrote a rockabilly number two days ago and I will continue to work on "El Cid" at a slower pace, focusing on providing more new songs for you in the coming weeks.
I'm therefore thrilled to present my latest rockabilly tune, "Sour Face Jim." This song is a tongue-in-cheek tribute dedicated to all the haters who randomly post comments on this channel.
To me, the true golden age of rockabilly is 1956 through 1957. Why? Because during this period, the new sound of rockabilly slowly evolved and somehow became standardized from mid-1957 up till 1960, eventually morphing into what we commonly call "rock and roll." The main differences between the raw rockabilly sound and rock and roll are a more polished production and a subtler presence of blues and country influences, which were much more prominent and raw in the early recordings.
Post-1957, many rockabilly artists were hopeful copycats who produced one or two obscure singles on small local labels. Most of these artists either gave up music after a few months or transitioned to more mainstream styles, mainly country. These musical artifacts remained relatively unknown for decades, only to become niche hits during the mid-1970s rockabilly revival or later in the early 1990s when CD compilations became popular. Songs like "Jungle Rock" by Hank Mizell come to mind.
"Sour Face Jim," with its raw and energetic yet amateurish vocals, is meant to be a tribute to that brand of artists who never made it big but ironically turned into "rockabilly legends" long after they had moved on to their adult lives.
Hope you enjoy this trip back to the golden age of rockabilly!
As always, I hope you enjoy this musical journey! Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more to come.
This channel is all about honoring the music of the past, from the 1950s to the 1970s, and bringing it into the modern age. This project is a labor of love, akin to writing musical 'fan fiction,' and I've approached it with the utmost respect for the original artists.
I understand that AI-generated music can be a divisive topic, but I believe the work and dedication that went into this album make it a valid and meaningful creation. It's a way for songwriters like me, who may not have access to traditional resources, to bring our musical visions to life.
I hope you'll join me on this musical journey and consider subscribing to the channel. Your support means the world to me, and I can't wait to share more projects like this in the future. Thanks for watching, and remember, all material on this channel is protected by copyrights. Enjoy!
