One mindset that I've always admired most for its purpose, gifts and lessons is the mindset of the underestimated; The Underdog.

To wake up as a doe, your morning begins from the bed you chose on the sunniest peninsula; having the flexibility to move you in all directions, and provide the vantage of escapism with ease. As you awaken and raise your head, you scan your surroundings; noting the glistening sun on the snow that also warms your coat, energizing your vitality for a new day.

Your attention is drawn to the morning song of the birds, perched in the amazing stage they chose nearby, the Mighty Oak. Spanning to the east, you see the grove that soon will provide you breakfast out on the ridge, perfect for a stroll or frolic with your brethren.

In case it's preoccupied; however, the ravine to the north leads safe passage with the cold, fresh snow in just a few bounds. And seemingly for your eyes only, a true north always provides a great view and healing for your gifts and calling. With the river below, there is no worry of finding your next drink or meal as the water keeps the hardiest plants out of hibernation from winter’s slumber.

As you span your surroundings and the view beyond, you find a gratefulness that you can remain innocent to the honors and ethics a hunter must hold in order to earn it’s own vitality. To live the life of a predator, my vantage would be from the mouth of a den; dark and secure, but definitely never so open or freeing. To me, a perspective destined to be short-sighted with heavy burdens.

Instead, the underdog’s vantage allows a balance and purity of the heart that gives freely, and shepherds with fertility in preparation for seasons to come. You can stand in the open with your head high toward the sun, empowered in knowledge that this placement grants you. It provides a resiliency with abundance and freedom as everything you need is with you and within you.

In this life of fulfillment, you are secure and free to be alone or part of the herd. To feel the lightheartedness of the light shining through the trees as you race through and in between. To be underestimated for the gifts you carry is almost a daily certainty. And so is knowing that you are an instrument of life, providing for so many with every choice, every movement, and even with your death.

Never questioning the trust in your intuition and strength of your unwavering instinct, your path is always forward. But before you take that first step of the day, the first thing you know and want, is to say; "Thank you."

This is the Freedom of the Underdog.
