Is this the WILDEST Hip Hop bass line ever?
I first heard the track 'Casa Bey' by Mos Def just after he had released his album 'The Ecstatic' back in 2009... I remember hearing it & thinking 'sheez, this bass player is going IN'. On some more digging I found out the original sample was 'Casa Forte' by 70s Brazilian samba-funk band Banda Black Rio ????
Love the fact that peeling back the layers of this Hip Hop track unveiled a band & style of music that I probably NEVER would have listened to at the time.
Any other Hip Hop heads out there? Would love to know some other bass lines that we should be checking out!
